Trapped in
When you smoke a cigarette, your body attempts to prevent the poison you inhale getting into its system.
Your body releases endorphins, the body's natural opiates, to fight off the poison and to ease the pain caused by it.
It is not the cigarette that makes you feel good, but the endorphins, your body's response to the cigarette.

To ensure it has enough endorphins available for future cigarette attacks, your body brings the natural cycle of endorphin releases to a halt and saves them up.
When the natural endorphin release doesn't come, you long for a new cigarette. You are trapped in…

The Smoking Ambush
To Smoke or Not to Smoke
Smoke, if you want to smoke, it's your choice.

Smoke, if you want to inhale chemicals found in bug sprays, car exhaust, cleaning products, nail polish remover, rat poison and road pavement, several times a day.
Do the temporary good feelings of smoking weigh up against the likelihood of an early death?

"To Smoke or Not to Smoke"…

That's the Question

Make Your Choice

Imagine that you continue to smoke until the end of your life. Visualize a point near the end of your life. What is your health like?
Imagine that you quit smoking today. Visualize a point near the end of your life. What is your health like?
Compare the two possible futures and make your choice…

Quit Smoking

Calculate the time you spend smoking in a day.
If you smoke a pack of 20 cigarettes a day, and each cigarette lasts for about 4 minutes, you smoke for 80 minutes each day.

Subtract this time from the 24 hours in a day.

That would leave you with 22 hours and 40 minutes, if you smoke for 1 hour and 20 minutes a day.
If you already spend more than 22 hours a day not smoking, you could not smoke for 23 hours, for 24 hours,…for two days,…for a week,…for a month,…for a year,…

Forever

Is It Hard to Quit Smoking

Every life has its ups and downs. Smokers reach for a cigarette to make them feel good.
If you just stopped smoking, it will be hard when you are feeling down. There's no cigarette to create an endorphin release and there's no natural endorphin release. Your body is still storing them up for a possible cigarette attack.

The natural endorphin release system will reset and you will be back in control of your feelings again.
In the meantime, when you are feeling 'down in the dumps', the Calm Down and In Control exercises will help you deal with it.
